Final Summer of Pups!
It is almost here and I can’t wait!
Our beautiful Dancing “Willow” through B’sharri’s Breeze is expecting her pups on April 19th…6 days away. I’m excited, anxious and excited all at once. She has the most dramatic labors of all our girls. I have sworn to myself and my daughter that every labor is her last with every labor she’s had.
Why did I continue breeding?
Because Willow, as a mama, is the most beautiful thing in the world. She just immediately takes over as a natural, nurturing mama and it makes me fall in love with her all over again. She was made for this! She has a dramatic birthing style, that’s for sure but, she has the most amazing support team and everything she could possibly want. This will mark her retirement litter. That’s just so hard for me to grasp.
Shortly following her is her sister, Quiverfull’s Deveana of B’sharri’s Breeze. She is due May 9th. Yes, we will have 2 litters at once and while life has been a bit chaotic in our home lately (we have 7 humans, 8 Newfies, 1 rabbit, 1 piggy, 1 kitty…and sprinkle a bit of anxiety disorders and tisms and you have chaos), we are used to the chaos and more pups just means more love, playtime and fun for all the above.
The closer I get to this retirement, the harder it gets. I really wish I didn’t have to stop. This has been a dream come true and through the ups and down it’s been a blessing and so worth it all. Unfortunately, I can’t do it alone and it’s not fair to rely on my grown children, who are blossoming lives of their own, to pick up the slack. I will miss this wholeheartedly.
For now, I am going to enjoy these pups coming and give them what I have given all the grandpups that came before them, my all. We all do and I’m so thankful for it.
