The “Pick” of the Litter
Every litter is special, without a doubt. We come up with temporary names at birth, from a theme we’ve picked during labor. That’s just how we do it. It creates an instant bond. This is what makes us special and if you’re looking for a Newfie to join the family because of the love they give and take, you should definitely stick with the breeders who do the same. I am not in this for show, at all. I don’t judge people who show, it’s just that my specialty is that I am a family, Newfie breeder.
I believe that Newfoundlands were created to love and serve their human counterparts. They are not just dogs, or pets, they are equal members of the family. I also believe that when their mamas bring them into this world, it’s our job as a family to pour all the love we can into each pup. It gives them an amazingly free environment that enables their natural Newfie, giant sized personalities and characters to grow. What you get here is a Newfie ready to love. I can say that about all of my grand pups.
That being said, this last pup available is a “new” for me. I’ve never had a pup not be sold at 9 weeks of age. It just breaks my heart for her. Her name is Vedette. Her litter theme was “Build FORD tough” because I am a big lover of ford cars and trucks. Vedette was born with her daddy’s little, slight, barely-there white patch right above her nose. That made her a classic beauty, hence, “Vedette”. By week 3, I knew she was my special one. She was such a lover. Unlike her curious, already turning mischievous litter mates, this girl wanted to snuggle. She found the nearest fold of your skin to snuggle right in and she would lick us so softly. She just loved kisses. She became my “pick of the litter” because I had never had a pup be so gentle in nature like this before. Of course you have your sweet pups, but there is a reason they come with a warning of “velociraptor”. It’s something I talk to all my prospective puppy families about because people who have never owned a Newfie before sometimes expect the “gentle giant” they read about online. I am here to tell you that is a process…not a ‘from birth’ type happening. However, Vedette changed my mind on that one. As she has gotten older (now 9 weeks), her playful side has shown but even that is gentle. And, I am so proud and happy to say that I am not the only one who sees it. Our vet made a huge deal about how she was the most “gentle and sweet” pup she has ever seen. She held her the entire time she wasn’t examining the others. I was so proud. I knew it! I was worried that I had fallen in love and you know what they say about rose tinted glasses. But, nope! She’s an amazing girl and anyone who meets her, knows it.
That is why I’m writing this blog. She deserves the best family ever. She deserves a family where she can be loved so big. She will be such an amazingly loyal, loving, nurturing, best friend and companion to everyone blessed enough to love her. I am looking for the special family. The pick of the pack-worthy family. If you were thinking of getting a Newfie as a companion or therapy dog, and you are ready for the hair and drool that will no doubt be part of the package, this is the one for you. With the right training, there is no doubt in my mind that this girl would definitely excel at that. This is going to be the kind of dog you take to a children’s hospital, nursing home, school, and anywhere that you would go to share some big love. She would also be happy just being a part of a family.
A few things I can share about this girl. I’ve posted her favorite things and these are genuine, not just for advertising. She loves kisses, boops, cuddles, snuggles, naps, treats and playtime. It’s more about hopping around with her sister and her humans than it is about playing with toys. She just loves being interactive with her family. She’s a good listener so if she is nibbling on something she shouldn’t, you just have to say, “eh! eh!” and she immediately stops. If she has a toy nearby, she will naturally go and chew on that, instead. This is a great sign of how eager and willing she is to be trained.
She has been passed over by many because they wanted the “brown bears”. Believe me, I understand. But if this beautiful girls tugs at your heart and you think you may be the right fit, please reach out to me. My name is Rachelle aka that crazy Newfie lady and I am looking for the perfect family for this perfect girl. You can see it in her eyes. She’s such a special girl.
